Seminar on Automation in Manufacturing

Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association (IMTMA) has organized one day 'Seminar on Automation in Manufacturing' on 17 September 2009 in Gurgaon. The seminar was divided in 7 lecture sessions, each dealing with an aspect of Automation in a manufacturing set up.



Highlights-

1. Normally automation is done to lower the cost and to improve the Quality of Product and processes and to improve productivity. Automation is normally recommended, where work processes are repetitrive, hazardous, labor intensive. requires close supervision and the product has to be competitive in a global market.

4 Seminar covered the methods commonly used in Industry for implementing the technology of Automation

(I)-Sensors, Laser measurement, FID and Vision system-Devices that improves productivity by their insights into distance measurement systems.

(ii)-Importance of visualization and monitoring in manufacturing automation-To monitor on-line production, breakdown and quality processes. Software integration with manufacturing.
